Decidual cast? Warning, gross picture.

I had a missed miscarriage early July, I needed to have a medical miscarriage.

Since then my periods have been incredibly heavy with clots. I was told it's normal then tonight, after my 8th day of a heavy period i passed something gross.

I've been getting strong cramps every period but before my pregnancy my periods were not as bad.

Is this a decidual cast? I'm going to the doctors tomorrow, I'm just bewildered that this has come out of me

I don’t know what it is. Definitely see the doctor. Are you feeling ok?

AllTheCakes · 17/11/2021 10:40

Sorry for your loss. Don’t have any advice but bumping for you Flowers

skintasabint · 17/11/2021 11:06

@PurBal
I feel sick if I'm honest and really worried.
My periods have been long and draining since the miscarriage but I was told it was normal

@AllTheCakes thank you Thanks

Given the shape I'd say decidual cast. I think if you'd had retained material from your miscarriage you'd have been quite unwell at some point since July as it'd likely have lead to infection.
Sorry for your loss Flowers

skintasabint · 17/11/2021 11:56

@ArtfulScreamer
That's what I thought too. It's so hard to get a doctors appointment and I didn't want to go to A&E and waste valuable resources. So I've been sat here all night panicking

It looks quite like the pictures I’ve seen before of a decidual cast. Will your GP do any emergency appointments?

skintasabint · 17/11/2021 16:18

@foxgoosefinch my GP is only doing phone appointments at the moment. He's told me if it happens again to go to A&E. Basically said to rest and that's it

@skintasabint What ended up happening for you- anything further? Your original post is my identical situation. I had 10 week missed miscarriage end of December and just had that same thing fall out of me during my heavy period this morning. I’m super worried and wondering if I need to be concerned.

skintasabint · 07/05/2022 15:38

@Stormandflowers I was fine in the end, I had a couple of months of horrendous periods and felt very week. I’m just getting back to myself now and this happened nearly a year ago.

mine was 10O% a decidual cast, they’re supposed to be pretty rare

@skintasabint Thank you so much for your quick response back! I was surprised to have something that big fall out almost 4 months after my miscarriage but here’s to hoping my bodies just cleaning itself and preparing for future pregnancy. It’s not fair some of us have to go through this bs- it’s mentally and physically exhausting.. I wish you good luck and lots of baby dust.

Tabletop76 · 20/06/2022 20:31

I was hoping someone can help me with this. Warning graphic picture!

is this decidual cast?
I'm not pregnant, since having to have a medical abortion in January- this happened today. 6 months on, I’ve had random discharge between periods, shorter periods and now this. Really worried. Just feel this is never ending

Stormandflowers · 20/06/2022 22:01

I ended up taking mine in and had lab work done- it came back as necrotic immature chronic villi & decidua- basically just products of conception. And yes it was 5 plus months since I miscarried. It was also the most painful cramps I had ever experienced when I passed it. I feel like doctors should warn that there is a chance you could pass products that far down the road. I didn’t realize my body would retain it for that long and I’d be okay.

I AM ALSO AT A LOSS OF WHAT THIS IS AND WONDERING IF IT IS THE SAME.. I HAD WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND TOLD THEM THAT I HAD BEEN SPOTTI G FOR OVER SIX WEEKS AND THEY SENT ME HO.E. LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY I WAS AT WORK AMD THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT FROM THE PAIN. I MANAGED AFTER HOURS OF AGANIZING PAIN THAT FELT LIKE CHILD BIRTH IN ITS OWN WAY TO GO TO THE BATHROOM ND just had to urge to push.. after awhile I happen to stand up amd seen it in the toilet and wrapped it in a paper towel amd took to the hospital. They said it could have Ben a possible miscarriage after the night before they said I wasn't pregnant because they gave me a rest but also said they shoe positive up to 4 weeks.. I was bleeding over 6 geniuses.. anyway they did no test on it or anything just threw it away and sent me on my way.. Can someone please help me

I had really light colored blood at the beginning only when I wiped and less than 14 hrs later I passed this and the other half of it was in the toilet. I gushed watery blood for another ten hours literally flooding through everything and had to result in using an adult diaper to get some shut eye. After that I have yet to bleed.. someone help!!! Warning graphic pics

Gingerkittykat · 27/09/2023 02:07

@Km2023 You need to go to A and E if you are bleeding that heavily.

Hello all,
I passed this lump a few months ago and at the time thought it may have been a decidual cast. It was firm when I squeezed it.

I didn't visit the doctor but every now and then become worried about it.

I cant call the doc till Monday to make an appointment and am feeling concerned.

What do you think?

Apologies, I'm new to mumsnet and thought I was making a new post.

Stormandflowers · 14/10/2023 02:35

Looks like left over product of conception to me. Wouldn’t be able to say for sure without it being sent in to a lab but if your bleeding/periods have been somewhat normal then that’s probably what it was.
