I'm 28 weeks pregnant and my midwife has called to let me know my haemoglobin level is 103. This means absolutely nothing to me, other than it's low, because they're giving me supplements. I've tried to google and I can't make sense of the different ways it's written out eg- 'anaemia is diagnosed if your hg is less than 70g/L' .... and other websites have it written out as 'you're iron deficient if your result is

Your Hb should be above 120. You need to take iron tablets and eat iron rich foods. Take your iron tablets with fruit juice or water and vitamin c tablets. Avoid tea and coffee 2 hours before or after the iron tablets. If you do this you will absorb roughly 4 times as much iron from the same dose.
Iron tablets can make you constipated so but some lactulose or movicol just in case.

Buy some lactulose or movicol.
