When is the first day of you period?

Is it a full blood flow? The day before my before came I had some dark stringy discharge only when I wiped (perhaps it was old blood) it wasn't a lot(teeny tiny amount) but then the next day it was a full flow...

That sounds normal to me

But would you count the stringy bits as day one of your period or not?

I’m the same I have weird spotting a day or two before - but count my period from the day the flood gates open.

Yes.

Why do you need to be sure?

According to my IVF clinic, the first day you wake up with red bleeding is day 1.

I’d count the first day of any bleeding. Why does it matter whether you count so accurately?
