Hi so I am looking for some advise. I’m 20 years old and usually have very regular periods.
I had my adenoids removed last week just before my period started. My period came a day late very very heavy with lots of blood clots ( sorry for tmi)
It’s day 8 and I’m still on my period ! It’s lasting forever I usually Am on 5 days. Can surgery anaesthetic etc cause longer periods ?
Has anyone experienced this before ? Thank you

I’d ring the GP for advice/reassurance if you’re concerned

Have you recently had Covid jabs?

Honeybeedaisy65 · 18/10/2021 09:57

No I had them a few months ago x

My instinct is give the gp a call?

Also just ask them to check your iron levels? It seems unlikely that any of the drugs given in surgery would cause prolonged blood loss from periods, but obviously it's impossible to say as only your healthcare provider will have access to your medical notes.

Potentially the stress of the surgery on your body might be the cause. First whiff of stress and my time of the month goes a bit off-cycle.

Call your gp, good luck op x

Oh that's so typical and annoying! If the blood flow gets worse, or if at any stage you feel like to be seen asap or you feel unwell - just go to a+e or call 111 and explain what's been going on (no one flame me for saying that, please, safety first n a that)
