Lumpy breasts

Hi everyone! Looking for advice/if anyone has a similar problem.

So, I recently had an ultrasound done on my left boob due to a lump next to the nipple. The doctor didn't see anything suspicious (thank god!) but did tell me that my breast tissue is very dense and lumpy, and recommended evening primrose oil capsules to soften the breast tissue. So far they haven't done anything, though.

I try to check my breasts for any changes and lumps monthly but it's completely impossible! I couldn't possibly learn to memorise all these "normal" lumps and spot new, possibly malignant ones if they were to form. To be honest, I have no idea if the lump I just got checked was new or if it has always been there. It just felt more prominent than the rest. Blush

The doctor didn't really have any helpful advice to give. Any tips on how to check for lumps when your boobs are literally made of lumps? Also, do you think it would be a good idea (if it's even possible) to get some kind of thorough boob scan privately done maybe once or twice a year?
My mum died of breast cancer, so I'm feeling a little worried and paranoid. Sad

I'd go back and ask to be referred to the breast clinic, particularly with your family history of breast cancer.

At least with a mammogram/ultrasound done the medics and you then have a starting point and further changes can be seen.
