Migraines and depression coming off Yasmin

Hello,

I quit taking Yasmin just over two months ago and am finding I feeling worse and worse with awful migraines and depression to the point where I just don’t want to do anything.

What were your experiences quitting the pill?
Ive never suffered with either of these problems before and just feel so hopeless.

Hello,

I experienced both of these issues, I'd been taking Yasmin for years.
Awful migraines that had me really really ill, vomiting etc.

It just gets better with time, or did for me anyway?

Should note that I switched to a different pill however, entirely different hormones than Yasmin but still, my experience will be different than just quitting hormonal contraception entirely.

I'm rather prone to depression anyway, but had been doing well while on Yasmin. I had to resume taking anti-depressants for a while. I'm not medicated now, think it just takes time.

Oh and for the Migraines, I had to go to my GP about them eventually - they can prescribe you a 900mg aspirin, which is the recommended dose for migraine. Or you can just buy your own (usually 300mg in shops) and take three. That's what I do as soon as I feel one coming on (rare these days) and it absolutely works like nothing else. Haven't suffered with one in a very, very long time.

@Polecat03 thank you for sharing your experience!

I’ve tried 900 aspririn already along with sumatriptan and I find nothing quite gets rid of the migraines completely and my depression/low mood is definitely worsening as time goes on. I’m still waiting on my periods to come back too…

If you don’t mind me asking - which pill did you switch to?

I'm now on Gedarel. I take it continuously, with no pill break at all, so as to not get a period - I have no wish for mines to return! I still get an occasional bleed every 3-6 months, but very minimal and only lasts perhaps a couple of days.
