Hi,
My stories kinda a long one.
I had a missed miscarriage in June and had a D&C to manage it, I was 11.5weeks but we lost our baby at 7weeks. It took 11weeks to get my period and it’s lasted for 3weeks- really heavy.
So I had 8days off with out bleeding (except once after sex for 1/2 day) however four days ago I started bleeding again, it’s been heavy and the cramps have been particularly painful, I’ve been feeling sick. Yesterday I passed a very large hard mass (unlike any clot I’ve seen) any ideas what’s going on with my body?
Apologies for the gross pic- I’m just at a loss!
TIA

Decidual cast?

IncessantNameChanger · 10/10/2021 20:02

That looks like tissue (as it body tissue not loo roll). Did you keep it?

Newgirl21 · 10/10/2021 20:18

Thank you for replying,
I didn’t keep it. This process has been so long and draining
It could be, do you think it’s anything to worry about? My Husband thinks I’m driving myself crazy.

It does look like a cast to me but I'm not a HCP.

Google it and see what you think.

Artdecolover · 10/10/2021 20:23

Casts are nothing to worry about btw, just gross!

JamieNorthlife · 10/10/2021 20:26

It looks like tissue. Can you call the EPU clinic for advice and maybe a scan to check if its all clear?

Artdecolover · 10/10/2021 20:29

A scan would be a good idea

Newgirl21 · 10/10/2021 20:32

Thank you @Artdecolover I’ve just been reading about it and it would make a lot of sense. It would explain the pain and why this period feels so different. Thank you.
Thanks @JamieNorthlife, I’m on the waiting list for a scan because of the excess bleeding since my miscarriage I’m going to call the Drs and see if I can hurry it up.

I think a scan might be a good idea. Call the epub and get some proper advice. I had a MC at 8 weeks and the baby was six weeks sized so not much there to come away if that's any comfort. I did have some Gray tissue come out pretty late on. However I did have a follow up scan after my natural MC to check all was clear. I'm really sorry for your loss

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. Walk in centre said it was a decidual cast

SylvanasWindrunner · 10/10/2021 20:36

Yes, it does look a bit like a decidual cast. I'd never heard of them before MN, and they must be quite a frightening thing! I believe they are harmless but given your miscarriage, it is def worth checking in case there's any retained tissue causing problems.

Thank you so much for helping to put my mind at ease and making me feel like I’m not crazy.
I will get it checked out for peace of mind if nothing else 👍🏻
