Can’t feel coil strings

I had a coil fitted on Thursday. The doctor didn’t mention anything about checking the strings but from what I’ve read online it’s advised to make sure it hasn’t moved. I’ve just tried and can’t find them! I’m pretty sure it’s because I can’t reach my cervix. Maybe my fingers are short, or my vagina is long Grin but I don’t think I’m anywhere near my cervix. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, any advice?

I had a Merina coil fitted recently and the strings were checked at the 6 week check .
This will be my 3rd marina coil and I never check regularly so don't worry too much .

You should try to dig around as far as you possibly can. Then phone the GP so that a nurse can try as well. I just went through all of this too. I’ve been trying to feel mine for 1.5 months and nothing... the nurse couldn’t find any strings either. She didn’t seem worried though. But see if the nurse can feel them or see them. She mentioned that some women's cervixes face a different way and that might be why they are hard to find.

I can only ever feel mine at certain points in my cycle, don't know if my cervix is lower then or something - is that even a thing?

My 6 week check was cancelled because of the first covid lockdown and I rang my practice because I was concerned I couldn't feel them. I've been able feel the tips of them on and off since then and the nurse has since confirmed everything was ok when I had a smear.

Thanks all.

@HipHopBanzai I’ve just ovulated and google tells me my cervix should be quite high right now. I’ll keep checking and hopefully will have some success when it’s lower.

I was advised to have a bath and then try again, often works for me. Something about the heat relaxing the muscles
