Smear test results - how long?

Went for my smear test 3 weeks ago, I'm on yearly recall due to HPV positive. Late 40's.

The nurse said I'd get my results in 2 weeks but I haven't heard anything yet(I'm in NW England)
Does anyone have any recent experience of waiting times, or is no news good news?!

(On another note, the nurse took ages doing my smear as she said my cervix was very high, she was poking around for ages. Once it was done she said everything looked healthy and she couldn't see anything obviously wrong.
Would the nurse tell you if they did see anything untoward? I have health anxiety so any tests etc make me panic.

I understand your fear completely… I’m always a health anxiety sufferer.
My friend went for her smear at the beginning of August and didn’t get her results back until the 2nd week of September due to the backlog!

I had mine at the end of July and still technically haven't heard. I messaged the surgery after about 6 weeks and got a very curt reply saying it was normal but no letter and I had to contact them.

I'm also on yearly tests due to being HPV positive. I had a smear in July and contacted surgey after 3 weeks, they said there was a delay at the moment. Think I heard at around 6 week mark. Sadly, still not shifted the HPV!

Thank you. HA is a nightmare isn't it? Mines so bad I avoid the GP now, I haven't been for about 18 months as I'm convinced he'll send me for blood tests which will show bad news.

Ive had HPV for the last 4 or 5 yearly smears-thankfully no abnormal cells though. Got sent for a colposcopy 2 years ago, all normal, and biopsies normal. Just can't shift HPV. I bought AHCC which is meant to help but only started it two weeks before my smear. How long have you had HPV (if you don't mind me asking?) It's hard to get clear info on it anywhere, I've been married for years so it must have been lying dormant.

I work in a Colposcopy Clinic OP and we are finding smear results are coming back in 4-5 weeks from smear being taken to results back from cervical screening

I'm also on yearly recall and I need to book an appointment but honestly the thought of waiting so long for the results is really putting me off. The test is the easy part I'm really struggling to book an appointment knowing the anxiety over the post arriving every day for weeks or months will start as soon as I do
I will do it soon but it's bloody awful. And I hate all the posts you see saying 'it's only 5 mins' grrrrr

@TheLittleMare I've been coming back as HPV positive for 2 years now, but luckily never have any abnormal cells. My body just doesn't seem able to shift it! I'm not too worried really, just thankful they can monitor with yearly tests.

My smear results came back in 8 days.

But other bits of the system aren’t working at all. I can’t get a fitting for a new coil despite it being in over 5 years and so no longer in date.

I had mine done on 13th July & had the result on 21st July this year.

Based in the northwest here too. I went for mine last Thurs and the nurse said up to 40 days for results at the moment.

Had one recently and they were back with the surgery in less than a week. Took 3 weeks to get a letter in the post mind…

Hi I know this is a bit old now but I had my smear done 10th of November 2021 and still have not had results worried sick been 4 week yesterday
