Copper coil and spotting

Hey, looking for other peoples experience of the copper coil.

I had my first baby last year and had the coil fitted in March of this year. Since then, every single cycle I've had random cramps and random spotting. They don't even seem to be linked to when ovulation should be happening either, nor is it in the run up to a period starting.

The spotting can be a day on its own or multiple consecutive days, sometimes brown sometimes pink.

Never spotted between cycles before having the coil.

Is this normal/common?

Yes I had this OP! I figured out it was happening at the beginning of my cycle (just after my period ended) when my womb lining was building up. There's not much on the internet about it but I theorised it was my coil irritating the growing lining somehow. The spotting was always on days 7 - 11 so in the runup to my ovulation day. It would sometimes be a really nagging, dragging pain and I felt weirdly unhealthy/not right with it so got it taken out eventually.

Yes! That's exactly what the cramps feel like, 'not right' rather than what period cramps used to feel like 😖 I've been tracking my spotting but so far for me there's no pattern

I figure my body was trying to reject it every month, recognizing it as a foreign object. Have it out if you're not getting along with it OP, I know it's annoying though as there are so few non hormonal contraceptive options.

@Timetable99 yeah you might be right, I was expecting it to have settled by now
