I have previously posted about calcifications. It’s turned out to be DCIS. Really struggling. Not sure why I’m posting I’m just in denial one minute and crying the next.

Hi
I'm currently undergoing breast cancer. It's a very worrying and stressful time, but treatments are very good!

I suggest you join the Breast Cancer Now forums and the Macmillan forums. You'll get lots of support on there.

Don't Google as lots of the information online is out of date.

Please DM me if you want to

Thank you I haven’t gone on those forums yet as it’s still too raw and guess I’m in denial.

I found that reading about other women going through this (and coming out the other side) was so helpful and it made me feel like I was taking control somehow.

I had surgery in August and am starting chemo on Friday. I'm terrified but I'm just ticking off each day as it comes

You need to reach out to people on UK breast cancer forums. I've met 2 people in real life who have been a great support plus a few other people I've connected with via the forums who I regularly text.

Those ladies have become my support group as they know what I'm going through. Although I have great support from family and friends they don't always get it.

Thank you
I guess I am scared of going on there as it’s admitting that I have it. Which I’m struggling with. Just really finding it difficult.

Hi Rockinghorse
I had DCIS, back in 2014 (right breast) and then again in 2017 (left breast). It must be such a shock right now, I remember being told I had DCIS and needing a mastectomy in 'about 3 weeks' when I thought I was going to be told I had a breast infection. It is numbing. But the good news is it's easy to treat and the prognosis is excellent, generally no need for radio or chemo therapy.

There's not a lot of info on DCIS, most of it is for breast cancer Stages 1 and up. DCIS is a Stage 0 cancer, it is a cancer, but it is contained at the moment.

This feels life changing, and it is, briefly, but now I am out the other side, and feeling great.

You can ask me anything you want, I don't have all the answers, but I have been through it all.
