Coil Strings disappeared

When I had my smear recently the nurse noticed that my coil strings weren’t there anymore. She’s booked me in for an ultrasound next month to see if it’s still there. If it is still there how do they get it out if there’s no strings?

After an unsuccessful trip to the gynae department to get mine removed I got referred to get mine out under general anaesthetic
