Hello!

Looking for some advice for foods around PCOS.

My weight has steadily gained, in part due to PCOS, and in part to the worst couple of years I've had. But I have hit the no more excuses stage, and I want to be able to buy good foods when I finally move into my new place, and leave the unhealthy...everything... behind.

I'm getting mixed messages from google, so I'm hoping somebody will be able to share their experience with PCOS and what food changes helped you lose weight?

Other than unprocessed, I'm not sure where to go...

Thanks!

To be honest, diet did very little for me from a PCOS weight loss point of view. I've been on metformin the last 3 months and am down almost a stone. I've made no major changes to what I was eating before. I do try to have a high protein breakfast and a lighter dinner most days.

Complex carbohydrates and plenty fibre! I tend to stay away from milk and watch sugar as much as possible. Everything in moderation though.

I'm the Mediterranean style diet was a good one if you actually cook and can be arsed with it just days. I read its very anti inflammatory and great for pcos.

Thank you!

What dose metformin are you on Star? My GP put me on it but I've found no change since starting on it.

Research a keto diet. I have PCOS and endometriosis. I've lost 40lbs since the 1 Feb and have done no exercise at all, so I'm sure results have been even better with some time in the gym. I've gone from a size 12 to an 8 and my periods are fairly regular. There's a lot of information on how woman with PCOS are more resistant to insulin than other women. Cutting out carbs and sugar is highly recommended.

Can I bump this thread. My daughter has PCOS. She was put on Metformin for insulin resistance .

Metformin caused awful gastritis. She only weight weight on that medication because of the vomiting.

Now thinking diet is the way to go. Has anyone got any good recipes, cook book recommendations?
