Nervous about getting a scan

I’ve had pain in my left side for about a month the GP isn’t sure what it is, I am waiting for an appointment for a physical examination but he would like to arrange a ultrasound scan as well.
I know I should be glad he is doing this but it’s making my anxiety go through the roof thinking why does he want a scan what if it’s something really bad.
I had bloods done about 6 weeks ago for something unrelated and they were fine.
Can you please tell me to stop being so silly and to be grateful to be getting checked out!

It's just one of those things they do. Think of it like having a smear test. In all probability it will not find anything. It's just a precaution. Be strong. You can do this. Line up a treat for when it's done.

Hope you're feeling better @Splishsplashimhavingabath you could see the scan as being a way of gaining new information about what is needed for you to feel healthier/pain free? Our healthcare system works on a better safe than sorry type approach which is great in many ways but also creates anxiety.
