Calcification on breast

I really need some support I’m really struggling not sure how I am going to get through the next two weeks. Any positive stories.
I went to breast clinic yesterday as noticed some dried discharge yellow (I’ve previously posted) in my breast. Consultant was dismissive and just picked it off saying it was fine and not to worry. As I’m 42 she sent me for a mammogram. The mammogram found incidental calcification on my breast and I had to have a biopsy. The results take 2 weeks. I wasn’t really given any information or even told how to look after the biopsy dressing. Tried to phone the clinic but they are closed today. I don’t really understand. I suffer from anxiety and just keep breaking down.

I'm sorry to hear this.

I think being upset is understandable, but a quick Google tells me that it's very treatable and I think you should listen to what @MrsSchadenfreude said.

I second what June said above. Sorry to hear that you have got that condition, but Mrs s offers good advice and hope that you can be absolutely fine and they can remove the potentially dodgy cells and you can go on and do your thing.

@Rockinghorse2019 Sorry to hear that but it is very easily treatable and you will be monitored afterwards. If you are on Facebook then Breast cancer support uk has lots of people in your situation as well who can offer support and advice on your journey.

Thank you I’m finding it quite hard to take in. Just can’t believe it.

Consultants do this day in and day out and KNOW their stuff. If they’re saying its nothint to worry about then there probably isn’t. The biopsy is usually offered to rule out early cancers piggy backing on the cyst, not because they they think your symptoms are cancerous if that makes sense?

MossyBottom · 24/09/2021 17:26

DCIS is not cancer. A bit like smear tests can find pre-cancerous cells.
They usually remove it because in some cases it can lead to cancer, though there is a school of thought that it's "over treated".
So you don't have cancer but you do have something that is perfectly treatable.

Thank you the surgeon said it comes under the umbrella of cancer but classed as pre cancer I think it’s very confusing. They haven’t decided if it’s just removing the area or the full breast.
