Magnesium side effects?

I've been taking magnesium (Magnesium OK which includes B vitamins too) for about 3-4 months now for period-related headaches and mood swings. My mood swings seem better but I've noticed my breasts have become very tender, starting as soon as I ovulate. They improve at the start of my period. After my headaches seemed to improve last month they were back with a vengeance, and I also had a slow start to my period with about 4 days spotting to begin with (I've read this can be a sign of progesterone dropping off too early in the cycle - a shorter luteal phase).

The things in pondering are: is the breast pain linked to the magnesium? Might magnesium cause a shorter luteal phase? Does this sound like a low progesterone issue?

Hello, I started taking magnesium a few years ago as I read it was good for anxiety , and it defo helped. Like you I have spotting a few days before my period , which I am now wondering if this it so so with magnesium?! I never took it before my last baby , and period were never like this. Now I'm worried this is impacting on conception!

Although I have just read magnesium helps most progesterone so I'm not sure!

I hope I've not worried you unduly! If you have read that magnesium helps progesterone then that's good news. I know that cycle changes post baby are supposed to be common. Mine are definitely less heavy and hardly any period pain. So it could just be a normal part of your cycle evolving?

By the way, I've recently read Period Power by Maisie Hill which has lots of info in that you may find helpful in terms of making sense of your own situation/cycle.

@Nenanena thank you for your reply
Yes my cycle and period definitely changed after pregnancy anyway, much lighter , only about 1 heavy day.
