Losing my hair

Can anyone help please. I've an appointment with GP but it's not until the 7th September. Lately I've noticed my hair thinning and I've been using Regaine to try help but things seem to be getting worse.

Any ideas why I'm losing my hair?

It could be down to a deficiency in your iron levels or something. Depending on your age, it could be down to perimenopause. It could be stress.

There are various possibilities- seeing your GP is the right thing, and it's on a bit more than a week away.

I agree, could be many things. Any other things you noticed?

Could be from weight loss/diet, iron deficiency, thyroid issues, giving birth or other medical problems. best of luck and I'm glad you are getting it checked.

I went through this recently. Had bloods - all fine. Had an appointment with the GP at my surgery who specialised in hair/skin and he diagnosed female pattern baldness.

He said Regaine is the only solution, but that it has to be used every single day for the rest of my life.

I'm yet to start it, as I cant bear the thought of that. Using a lot of strategic hair styles. I'll no doubt start the regaine soon. And then hate that I have to shampoo daily.

I'd recommend gp for bloods.

Thanks. I have lost weight recently but was dieting rather than unexplained weightloss.
@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz I've been using the regaine every day for about 4 weeks now

Could you take some collagen and a multivitamin to boost your nutrition and see if that helps...I think it's a long game though.

How old are you OP? Could it be menopausal? Blood tests are your first stop always. It will rule out low iron amongst other things.

Don't know sorry but I do know that Brazil nuts contain a key nutrient for healthy hair growth (can't remember which one but Google probably can), and I have heard anecdotally eating them helps with hair loss.

I've had this twice when I was dieting. Not a rapid weight loss or extremely restrictive diet either. Happened about 3mths after the diet was started- both times! I'd find hairs on my pillow and clumps coming out when washing or brushing it. It stopped after about 6 weeks!

I'm 37, I don't think menopause. Googling I don't think iron could be reason as I would have other symptoms

You can still get peri-menopausal symptoms at 37, it's really not that uncommon.

Take a look at Dr Louise Newson's menopause doctor website and balance app where there's a checklist of symptoms and lots of advice

Good luck
