Hi, I would be very grateful if anyone can give me some advice please as I am abroad at the moment and possibly for the next few weeks in a country where English is not spoken much!

I started Estradiol Gel 2 pumps every night and Utrogestan 100mg oral nightly on days 1-25 of each 28 day cycle. I have found that I am now experiencing palpitations at night after the Utrogestan and headaches during the day. I had a period back in April but have not had one since - I have a long history of menstrual migraine and the headaches feel a bit like a mild migraine.

My question is could this be the Oestrogen? If it is should I cut the pump down to one a day or is it the Progesterone - am confused please help.

I'm on the same.
But please re-read the instructions leaflet for ustrogen I think you have read it wrongly. I do 12 days within a 28 day cycle.
I think I have headaches on days 11 and 12

Hi Mummagirl - it says on the Utrogestan leaflet you either take it as 200mg for 12 days in the last half of each cycle on days 15 to 26
or
100 mg which is me from Day 1 to Day 25 of each cycle.
I'm sorry you get headaches too.

It may be it gets better or not.

I have used it for many years. I use it on a cycle (12 days) because using it daily gave me a migraine. It's when the serum levels fall in the blood that can trigger headaches.

The period you had in April- is that your own period or a withdrawal bleed after day 25?

Jinglinghellsbells - thank you for your reply on here and the Menopause forum. The period in April was my own - but I had finished a 3 month injection of Prostap for heavy bleeding. So I think I am more into the menopause. Not sure what to do as I am away I am due to have my last Progesterone tonight and then a 3 day gap and bleed. I wonder if I should stop it all tonight and speak to my GP when I return in a few weeks to the UK or start a new cycle and speak to them about a 12 day cycle as you do.

You aren't classed as post menopause until 12 months after a natural period. So even though your periods were paused with prostap, you don't really know if you are post meno yet.

You could quite easily have 2 weeks of estrogen only now and try 12 days from day 15 of your next cycle.

It depends on your symptoms. If you stop for a few weeks how will you feel?

I honestly don't feel your GP will shed much light on this other than suggest you try a cycle rather than continuous, or swap you to a patch with different progestins.

@JinglingHellsBells
What do you mean by a cycle? I'm a bit confused.
