Have noticed this at back of throat above my tonsil. Dont have any pain and only know it’s there as can see it.

Anyone know what it could be? It like hangs down and has some puss.

That’s your uvula. Everyone has one.

Gingernaut · 23/08/2021 06:22

The dangling thing is your uvula and it looks perfectly normal

Pissoi · 23/08/2021 06:22
Hmm
endofthelinefinally · 23/08/2021 06:25

I can see you dont mean your uvula.
It looks as if you have a bit of tonsillitis, maybe some tonsil stones. The bit you are referring to could be a little pocket of infection or a stone.
Try gargling frequently with hot salt water.
Look up tonsil stones.

Uponthemoon · 23/08/2021 06:38

@endofthelinefinally thank you. I have looked up Tonsil Stones but this just moves around when I try and poke it.

Will try the salt and water and see what happens

Tonsillar tissue is full of crypts and is spongey. When it gets swollen or inflamed it can get a bit raggy. The nooks and crannies get full of dead cells and exudate.
Hot salt water gargling for a few days, every 3 or 4 hours, should clean it all out and then you can see if it settles down.

I agree with the above - gargle gargle and then if it doesn't resolve itself fairly pronto then send that photo to your GP/show it to a pharmacist. Tonsils are strange complicated beasts!

Uponthemoon · 23/08/2021 10:08

Thank you, will give it a few days and try and get hold of someone if not gone down more xx

It’s seems to have gone down from when I first noticed it (pic attached- two weeks ago) but as I know it’s there now I can’t stop thinking about it and wanted to know if someone had something similar xx

Might be plaque build up.

Bryonyshcmyony · 23/08/2021 10:17

It's a tonsil stone

Uponthemoon · 23/08/2021 13:08

Thanks everyone. Managed to speak and show Dr today. He said it was a cyst and can take ages to go away. Just need to keep an eye incase gets bigger or infected x

Looks just like a tonsil stone, keep gargling with salt water or prod it with a cotton bud
