Spotting after 6 years on combined pill

Looking for some advice or if anyone has experienced similar situation. I’m on the combined pill cilique where I take a 7 day break every 21 days. I always take it at the same time and never miss a pill. I’ve been on the pill for about 6 years ( besides cilest changing to generic cilique 10 months ago, has the same ingredients though )

However about 3 months ago I experienced a day of light spotting mid cycle. I put it down to stress/ exercise but it happened again the following month. I went to my doctor who told me because I had a smear test 16 months ago I didn’t need one. She did send me for an ultrasound which was normal, bloods etc which were normal.

I’m just worried I should be given another smear test? Has anyone experienced this or have any advice? Thanks so much

I think like you I would have preferred another smear. Has she at least brought your next smear forward?

You cannot bring a smear forward, it would be rejected by the lab. The only way to get one out of the normal program is through a referral to gynae. If smear, bloods and ultrasound were all ok, then it's probably just one of those things on the pill.

Sorry I didn't realised that but it makes sense. I had abnormal cells some years ago and was put on more regular smear tests but that was by a Gynaecologist.

I started getting this on the combination pill
Stopped as soon as I stopped taking it

Thanks so much for the reply. Glad to know i'm not alone.

Had you been on the combined pill for a while when this happened? Curious as i find it strange to suddenly occur!

@debka thank you for you reply!

I find it so strange that it's so difficult to get these things seen to :(

I'll try and get a gynae referral and hope for the best! It's so frustrating not knowing what's going on. Thank you for your suggestions!

@Meadhbh yes for years
I actually think it's pretty common

Meadhbh · 25/08/2021 10:37

hey @fedup078 @debka @BunnyRuddington

I booked a private smear as I'm such a worrier. I had it last week and have to wait about 5 weeks for results ( such a long time) I bled during the test slighly and she said my cervix seems "friable". Of course i'm up the walls now, she did mention it was not uncommon but has definitely increased my nerves! I will keep you posted
