I'd be interested to hear women's experiences of medical care for recurrent urinary tract infections, esp. in the UK.

My sister got them because of the pill she was taken. The were so regular. She is was passing blood. By chance (after a long time - Years) she went to A&E was told it was because of the pill - was complete news to her.
Stopped the pill. No more UTIs

Agreed the pill can have odd effects; small numbers but if you're in one of those groups...

My real worry is the confusing of UTIs with yeast infections (so obviously antibiotics will not work) and, even more, confusing them with very serious conditions such as cancer. Is bladder cancer detected late because doctors immediately diagnose a simple UTI, 'women get these all the time'? I am going to follow developments as far as I can (I live in LA and if had a suspected UTI I'd be going through the UCLA health system myself, so I have a personal connection too).
