I have children, I’m 30, and I have a copper coil fitted and have for over 2 years and not had any issues. My period started 13 days ago and lasted 4 days, was shorter than usual and lighter than usual, my pms have not really went away since my period my breasts have been sore and Iv been tired a lot and I thought not much of it, but Iv just started bleeding rather heavy! Iv checked my phone app as I track my periods and my period is due august 12-15th….. my last period started 13 days ago! What in the world could be going on!? It’s a Sunday and my gp is closed or else I’m certain I’d be calling for a chat to put my mind at ease. Does anyone know what this could be?

I know everything seems to come down to this atm, but I don't suppose you've recently had your Covid jab? I had periods 2 weeks apart in the week after my 2nd Pfizer jab, when I'm usually a very regular 28 days. All back to normal from the following month.

LadyCatStark · 01/08/2021 15:28

Yes have you had your vaccine recently?

Dollywilde · 01/08/2021 15:29

Literally came here to say have you had your jab? I came on on day 22 of my cycle after my first Pfizer, usually have a 33 day cycle and I’m pretty sure I’d ovulated on day 20.

Covid jab?

Dollywilde · 01/08/2021 15:29

Like PP though all was back to normal the following cycle ☺️

Emz2019 · 01/08/2021 15:31

Omg yes I had it on June 27th my second jab. Could it really be related?

Yeah it’s definitely a thing: www.bbc.com/news/health-56901353

There are a few threads on here, most talking about periods being delayed but some (inc me!) coming on early.

I’m convinced it delays ovulation for some people, but if you’ve already ovulated it just brings on your period early.

I was talking to DH about it and he was amazed but I pointed out that when you’re nervous often you need to poo (adrenaline getting rid of excess before fight or flight) so it’s perfectly logical your body could choose to ditch unnecessary womb lining before fighting (what it thinks is) an infection.

Yep jab. Someone posted on Instagram about the jab bringing on their period early and there was 22000 comments underneath about people with not ovulating and missing a period or a period turning up early. Post menopausal women and trans men are also getting periods

Wow thank you everyone I have reported it on the yellow card website. I hope this is the only
Time this happens to me and nothing else happens I’m very shocked

My completely unscientific view is that the vaccine is quite stressful on your body, so your body makes sure you won't be pregnant whilst dealing with it.

LadyCatStark · 01/08/2021 19:40

Yes my period started early when I had my first jab and I’m regular as clockwork.

Emz2019 · 02/08/2021 09:26

It tapered off last night and was light and very brown then at 5am very heavy again and I’m so crampy today we have a lot of activities planned for the kids this week a lot of driving and days out ahead and then a camping trip with them so I’m feeling very deflated about this all now as my periods are usually VERY heavy since having my coil fitted so I tend to stay house bound for those few days as I need to change very regular.
