Breast lump

I found a lump last week, immediately scheduled a doctors appointment, and am booked in for a scan next week. All very efficient. I was very nervous about the whole thing and the "not knowing" (your imagination does start torturing you a bit), but the lump seems to have reduced in size quite a bit since I first found it...

...Would I be right in thinking this means it's probably not cancer? More likely a cyst or an infection?

I mean... cancerous lumps probably don't shrink, right...?

Best to get it checked out.

If they think it is cancerous there's a good chance they will tell you there and then. So be prepared.

My understanding is that lumps or lymph nodes that are cancerous don't go down but those with passing infections do.
I had similar experience and while waiting for my appointment called one if the cancer support lines where I got very helpful information and felt much better.

Just remember most lumps aren't cancerous
