Spotting after years on combined pill

Hi there! Looking for some advice or learn if anyone went through something similar as I've worked myself up and am suffering from terrible anxiety

I’ve been on the combined pill for 5 years ( cilest which got changed to generic cilique 10 months ago ) However the last 2 months I had light spotting mid cycle. This also happened about 16 months ago and I went for a pap test which was normal. I have just went for a pelvic ultrasound which was also normal and showed nothing odd. Has anyone else had any similar experiences? Not sure if I should push for another pap test? My doctor said i didn't need one but I'm worried. Could it just be the birth control? :(

Yea I believe the pill can cause this
I stopped taking it and it stopped straight away

This started happening to me after about 20 years of the combined pill. It then turned into heavy bleeds (breakthrough, not on my 7 day break) I was early 40s at the time and my GP advised I change to the mini pill. Have been on that for years now and no problems. I actually haven't had a bleed at all since I changed! He said it was age related. Maybe the same with you? But if paps are clear and no other issues I'm sure your doc is Tony there's nothing to worry about

Thanks so much for your message!

I'm 26 years of age so I'm not sure if it's age-related. I just find it quite strange to happen like this suddenly. I've only had one pap test 16 months ago so I'm unsure why they would be hesitant to give me another one. I guess I'm just a big worrier and jumping to the worst conclussion!
