Fortnightly Heavy Periods- Solutions?

Alouema2 · 28/06/2021 10:40

As title says, since being sterilised 7 years ago my periods are now roughly every 2 weeks. Heavy, painful, every nasty symptom you can imagine. The only solution seems to be the pill but I get constant headaches with it. I'm 36 so early menopause has been ruled out, blood tests, ultrasound and examinations were done and all is well. Is there anything else other than working my way through different pills?

All is clearly not well if you are bleeding every two weeks. They've likely missed something fundamental here. If endometriosis is the root cause of your heavy bleeding and pain those sorts of tests you've had done will not usually detect it.

What sort of doctor have you seen to date?. Are you in the UK?

I'm pretty sure the vaginally ultrasound can detect it. Having them every 2 weeks started a few years back, not since starting periods, so not sure it's that. I've had smear tests since too, nothing ever shows up. I'm in UK.

The mirena is usually recommended by Drs. It seems to work exceptionally well for some people and not at all for others.

I have had more internal ultrasounds than I care to mention and none of those detected the endometriosis present in my uterine cavity!.

Would urge you to keep pushing for answers as to why this is happening as well as trying to treat the symptoms.

I agree, please keep on and ask for help. I am 45 and had heavy bleeding for over a month with huge blood clots, I had the usual ultrasound scans and blood tests as well as an mri scan. I was put on norethisterone to stop the bleeding and eventually put on the mini pill, which for me is working, although it doesn't for everyone. You don't have to put up with this and I hope you get a solution soon.
