I have a women's health physio appointment next week and I want to try and explain this to her.
Pre-DC I am fairly sure that when I wanted to stop myself weeing, I used to be able to clench muscles "at the front" - for want of a better expression.
Sort of the whole area around my urethra I guess.
Is this normal and I've lost the ability to do it? 
To stop myself now I tend to clench my buttocks, try and squeeze my pelvic floor, cross my legs if possible, and hope for the best
