Did your cycle change after Covid vaccine and for how long for?

I noticed my period after my first Pfizer vaccine was three days early and much heavier than usual. I've just started my next period (second after 1st vaccine) and this time it was four days early (only a 25 day cycle when I'm usually 28/29).

I'm wondering if anyone had a changed cycle after the vaccine and for how many cycles after?

Of course it may just be coincidence (I'm going through a lot of stress) but I know temporary menstrual side effects have been reported. Extra annoying though as I'm ttc.

BTW, I'm certainly not anti-vax. Would rather this than Covid!

Hmm. I’ve heard this reported. For me it delayed it by a good 5 days which is really odd for me. But it got back in line in a couple of months. All the best with ttc

I had Astra Zenica (first injection was a few days before they stopped recommending it for under 40s) and after both injections I bled four days post vaccination.
I'm on the depo injection and have never bled in ten years at all whilst on it. First time I put down as "one of those things" for it to happen four days after the second one seems more than coincidence.

I bled every few days after the second one for a month and became extremely hormonal (again the injection has stopped this for years!)

Thanks everyone. Funnily enough there was a short video about menstrual changes post-vax on the BBC news website this morning. Again stressing that it is temporary and harmless, but annoying all the same!

It's so interesting that you have all experienced changes too. My sister in law had her period delayed by two weeks and she was convinced she was pregnant!

Meh, the stuff we ladies have to deal with! Confused

I've been double jabbed since the end of April and I've only had one period since then. It's so annoying when TTC and i have no idea what's going on.

MrsJamin · 30/06/2021 08:48

I've had spotting between periods since getting the first A-Z vaccine 6 weeks ago, it's been annoying but not alarming. I was worried it meant the start of the change, but could well be because of the vaccine. If anyone else has varying periods do report here yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

I was 4 days late after first az jab, and now 15 days late after second. Also annoying for me as I can’t work out when to book in for a smear test, and will also probably delay seeing gp about peri menopause symptoms until I know exactly where I’m up to…

HPmagic · 30/06/2021 18:45

I was a week early after my second jab and really heavy, it also finished a lot quicker than normal.

Rm77 · 07/07/2021 13:56

I had the Astra zenica jab. Both periods after each dose were early (18 day cycle) and I also had quite a bit of mid cycle spotting which worried me. Periods after the jab were really heavy. Doctor said it's one of the side effects of the jab but I still had an ultrasound done. The ultrasound found a polyp, which gives heavy periods and spotting.

FloppyWollop · 11/07/2021 01:10

Day 55 and still no sign 😬

somebodyoutthere · 11/07/2021 06:53

Yep - 26 days late here and counting…

MouldyPotato · 11/07/2021 06:56

So far been "messed up" for 2 months. I'm due 2nd jab soon and slightly hesitant as no one is saying much about it.

MauisLeftNipple · 11/07/2021 07:03

No (have had both doses of AstraZeneca).

Peppallama · 11/07/2021 07:07

I had Pfizer and I'm breastfeeding my 20 month old and hadnt had a period in, well, 30 months. It triggered my cycle and I had insane flooding. I was going through an ultra tampon and night pad every 30 mins and when I sat on the loo it just poured out like it was wee! I have since been bleeding every day, albeit very lightly once that initial week of flooding subsided. I am dreading the second jab as DC will be on summer holidays and I don't want to be stuck in the bathroom rather than out and about

Greenandcabbagelooking · 11/07/2021 07:14

I had 4 days of dark spotting, normals day 1 heavy bleeding and passed a huge clump of tissue with visible blood vessels. Then light bleeding for two more days.

The only thing that has changed in my life was getting my jab. Please report any menstrual changes using the yellow card scheme. Even if They are harmless, the regulator would like to know.

Hi ladies!

I was 20 days late after getting my first Moderna jab. I'm due for my second jab 9th August and I really don't want to now :( such a pain because I was so game for the vaccine but now I hate not knowing whilst we're ttc. We've had to postpone our wedding for the 2nd time now so decided to wait 2 years to 2023 to allow us to start for babies....but I need to bloody ovulate first!

One problem after another!

NatSam89 · 15/07/2021 18:43

Yes! Had last jab in April. I am due on the 20th of every month roughly and am always on time. This month I have spotted all month and horrific mood swings. It’s almost unbearable how irrational and angry I am Shock

HorriderHenry · 15/07/2021 18:46

First Pfizer jab was was two days before my period was due, it came on time. Been tracking periods for years and I’m very consistently 28-30 days, and any (there’s about one every 18 months) 27 day is nearly always compensated the next month by a day late. (Ie I know my body).

Since first Pfizer jab I’ve had a 23 and a 22 day cycle, and that 22 day one was the heaviest and most painful I’ve had for years.

Ls005 · 18/12/2021 17:25

Totally late to this one but after my third Pfizer jab last week I’ve started to do my own digging and found so many others who have had problems with periods and bleeding post vaccines - I’m glad I’m not alone. The GP thinks I’m talking absolute mumbo jumbo and I’m now facing a hysteroscopy despite an ultrasound showing nothing wrong. Literally the only life change is 3 jabs. A bit of stress but I really don’t think that could change things so much. Plus I started bleeding 24 hours after my booster jab at the same time flu like symptoms and all sorts started to show - can’t help but feel there’s a coincidence.

Def not an anti Vaxer - just want there to be a recognition of the things we are experiencing post jabs!

JabNotInArm · 19/12/2021 13:14

I am 7 weeks pp and despite breastfeeding I've had what I think is a period. Seems really early. Just occurred to me as I read this thread that I had my booster on Sunday and I'm wondering now if that could be playing a part
