Bleeding between periods

Hi,
I’ve seen quite a few threads on here about this topic so I know it’s reasonably ‘common’ but very worrying nonetheless :(
I’ve had a very small amount of bleeding between periods for over two years. The first time it happened I went straight to my GP who completely fobbed me off. It happened again so went back and saw a different GP - I got referred for a scan and it turned out I had a dermoid cyst the size of a football in my ovary. I had that removed but a few months later the bleeding returned - on and off.
I had an abnormal smear result last year and went to colposcopy where they found a polyp - which was removed and mild abnormalities. I’ve just had a follow up smear and I’m waiting for my results.
I went back to the doctors about the spotting and they asked me to monitor it - it seemed to be mid cycle but they checked all my bloods too and everything was normal.

This month I’ve had bleeding both mid cycle and then a week later - so more often than before. My GP says I should wait for my smear results and she thinks it’s hormonal but I can’t stop worrying about it. Should I push for more tests? I think I’m likely to get referred for a colposcopy as I’ve had HPV and abnormal cells for a while. Should I just trust the GP? I wish I wasn’t such a worrier! I feel like I’ve been well checked out but not having a definite diagnosis is hard. Also, it seems to be getting worse.
I’m 41 so I know it could be hormonal.

If you got this far - thank you :)

Hi ! I ve recently had mid cycle bleeding ( a bit more than the usual spotting) . I thought it was a side effect of the covid vaccine ( had given me an early and heavy period) or maybe hormonal ( am 44). Yesterday I had an internal scan and the doctor found a polyp; I had another one some years ago. So that is what s probably causing my heavy periods and spotting. Now I'm also still spotting after the scan...... reading these threads makes me feel that I am not alone....
