How to get rid of belly fat

sammysnake · 18/06/2021 14:45

Since having DC I gain weight a lot more easily on the front of my belly. When my weight goes up it's the first place that it goes and I hate it! It's so uncomfortable and I look pregnant! Anyone have any diet or exercise advice on how to target it? I wonder whether cutting back carbs would help?

You can't target where you lose fat from unfortunately! If you are bloated then cutting out foods that cause it might help. But the only way to lose weight/fat is a calorie deficit, basically. Simple but not always easy. Exercise can help with "body recomposition", particularly weight lifting or body weight exercises.

Thanks - I know you're right! I might look into the weight classes as I've heard good things before. Also kickboxing.

Do press-ups.

30 everyday. Proper ones, not the lady bent-knee ones. Proper press-ups, with your bank horizontal, even if you can only do a couple at a time, no matter how long it takes you, do 30 every day.

That will sort out your stomach.

I feel your pain @sammysnake

Last couple of years I have totally changed my body. My arms and legs and buttocks are toned and muscular. My stomach is a flaccid blob! Nothing I do seems to shift it even though I've lost weight and toned up everywhere else!

Before you go doing sit ups etc you should check if you have diastasis recti. If you have any abdominal separation from pregnancy you need to correct this first, it could be part of the reason you look pregnant. But also the wrong exercises, like sit ups, could cause you damage.
