Itching piles / haemorrhoids what helped you?

Hi all,

I'm preggy with no. 2 and whilst preggy with no. 1 I developed piles and a bad case of ibs, so they never really went away. Anyway now back with a vengeance and have been for about 8 weeks.
Have been using suppositories (germaloids) and cream, but the itching is driving me crackers! Can't sleep at night for it, and have checked it's not worms, just when my butt is pressed together in bed.
Doctor gave me some daktacort which seemed to work for a few days but now is having little effect.
What helped you calm it down?
The piles aren't shrinking and because if them and the cream it's causing little leakages which also doesn't help!
Any advice gratefully recieved!

My Mum uses Yarrow ointment. She said it's the most relief she's had in the last two years. It's a little expensive but she was prepared for pay for what she describes as 'almost instant relief'

I used Anusol which really helped to shrink them. Also, moist toilet paper helps to get rid of any ‘irritating matter’ that may remain after using dry toilet paper. Not the most environmentally sound but needs must.
