Are my cycles weird?

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask. Just want some insight. I'm planning on asking my GP but I cant get in for 3 weeks.

I'm 28, and I am obese. I was on BC from 16 up until Feb this year. I started on the pill until I was 22, then went to nexplanon for 4 years, back to the pill for 6 months, then the mirena for 6 months and now we're here.

The day after my mirena came out, I started bleeding as expected. It was heavy and clotty for 10 days, then spotting for 2 days.

Since then, my cycle has been 3 days on the dot. My periods are only 3 days and light-moderate (no complaints here!). The periods I had while on BC and before then were always about 5 days and a bit heavier than they are now.

However, I am currently 7 days late, urine and bloods negative for pregnancy. I'm not sure if this is normal or if something else is going on

35 days, not 3 😂

It can be normal to have a delayed ovulation every now and again which causes your period to be late.

Have you had the covid vaccine recently? Some women report it delays a period.

I had my first dose in April and bad my normal period after that. Second dose in July.

I'm more worried about the length of my cycle than anything

35 days is normal. Mine are 32 - 38 days and I have 2 dc and pregnant with my third! Only thing I'd advise is tracking ovulation as you probably don't ovulate til day 22 or thereabouts - most apps/sites say day 14 as they talk about the average 28 day cycle. Good luck!

LawnFever · 10/06/2021 06:27

35 days cycle and three days period is normal and occasionally being a bit late is normal too.

When you were on bc your period length was controlled by the medication so you can’t really compare it.

Yaty · 10/06/2021 06:28

Yes 35 days is in the normal range. Mine are usually 32-36 day cycles and I don't ovulate until around day 20. The 28 day is just an average.

LFQuery · 10/06/2021 06:31

Mine used to always be around 35 days when I was TTC the first time. When I was finally pregnant I didn’t get a positive test result until day 42 or 43 or similar.

Don't forget that your periods on BC are not anything to go on. So don't compare with them

Thanks ladies. I was so concerned about future babies (not ttc yet 😔)
Mostly because the 28 days and 5 day periods is what i was always told. This has eased my anxiety a bit!
