TSS? Pulled out super tampon dry

So stupidly last night I used a super tampon as I've finished period but still having annoying brown discharge for days so wanted to try and soak it all up so to speak!! I don't use tampons when on period and I didn't realise I was using a super absorbent one, it's just the only ones I have.

Anyone after about half an hour I pulled it out, it was obv bone dry and really hurt!! It looked a bit frayed but was intact.

Thought no more of it then last night also had sex with my husband, this morning feel a bit sore and crampy and been Googling reading that pulling out dry tampons especially super ones can create tiny tears internally meaning bacteria can get in bloodstream causing TSS. I'm worried I've caused this to happen.

I also have my first vaccine today and now I'm panicking that I might start getting TSS symptoms but may think they're just post vaccine symptoms and could get really ill?!

I'm very anxious about my health usually, and I suppose I'm looking for any words of wisdom / reassurance or do I need to get antibiotics?!

I’ve done similar plenty of times and while it’s a bit ouchy, I’ve never had any ill effects and definitely not TSS. Stay away from Google! Smile

This is your anxiety talking. My periods can be a bit stop start and this often happens to me. It's uncomfortable but nothing bad has ever come of it. In future why not try a moon cup?

DinosaurDiana · 25/05/2021 06:41

It will be fine, Ive done it loads of times.
If this happens again pull the string to the front and wee, the tampax will soak up the wee and slide out.

Russell19 · 25/05/2021 06:41

I think you'll be fine. Just keep an eye out for feeling unwell.

worriedanx · 25/05/2021 06:48

Thanks everyone. My worry is if I do feel unwell I might write it off as post vaccine side effects. Or will just be panicking it is TSS when it is just the vaccine.

I'm such a worrier when it comes to my health. I go into overdrive 😩

I'm glad to hear others have experienced the same.

Also read tampons can expire and mine definitely have as they're ancient. So more like to be holding bacteria. Not to mention having sex straight after.

God I really need to stop overthinking 😖

Not googling anymore!!

I've done this so many times when I've pulled one out that I've recently put in because it feels uncomfortable, or not been inserted far enough. Aches a bit the next day but never become unwell! X

Thank you. I feel a bit bruised inside today. Hopefully will subside soon and nothing sinister come of it. My husband always telling me just because something hurts / went wrong doesn't mean it's going to be deadly.

I hate feeling like this!
