Hi all,
Little bit of background
Had dreadful IbS on-off for years and usually medicate with mebeverine

Had a very bad flare up about a week ago to the point where I was wearing maternity trousers my stomach was so swollen (and I still am nothing else is comfortable) and in absolute agony and my only comfortable place was sat in a very warm bath and then in bed with a hot water bottle however I've been up all night and I'm in so much pain I don't know what to do with myself.

I'm preety sure it's stress related there's a lot going on but I'm really struggling

Should I phone 111 - would they do anything do you think?

Could it be gallstones?

@omgthepain call 111 again, especially as you are in so much pain. Even if they can’t find the cause your pain needs to be managed appropriately

Mollymalone123 · 01/05/2021 00:40

I would go back to a and e - they will at least give u better pain re- wake up your partner - don’t be on your own

Percypigg · 01/05/2021 00:41

Definitely call 111. You can't remain in that much pain. I'm sure it's hard because they checked you over yesterday but you need pain relief immediately at the v least.

Unreasonabubble · 01/05/2021 00:50

Call 999. If you are in that much pain and you are crying, it is not trivia. Also agree with another poster that this may be a Gallbladder problem. It's like having a heart attack when it happens.

EKGEMS · 01/05/2021 00:54

Could it be C.diff? That's really easy to mistake it for IBS and diagnosis is with a stool sample.

ThePontiacBandit · 01/05/2021 01:01

You need to seek medical attention again. I’ve had similar where I’ve had unexplained abdo pain (long term diagnosis was endometriosis but it took a laparoscopy to confirm that, all other tests including CT, ultrasound, colonoscopy, gastroscopy were pretty normal). It sounds like they discharged you too fast. Do you still have your appendix?

Wake your DP, get to hospital, 999 if you need to. Flowers for you, genuinely feel your pain! Hope you get some answers soon.

Cloudyview · 01/05/2021 01:06

Another who thinks it may be your gallbladder, the pain is awful. Phone 111.

thoroughlyfuckedoff · 01/05/2021 01:17

Agree with others-you need to go back to the hospital.Really hope you feel better soon OP

PuttingOnTheKitsch · 01/05/2021 01:24

Go back to A&E. You need to get this sorted. You are not wasting anyone's time.

Did they eliminate any gynae issues? I had similar pain which worsened at night. GP gave me mebeverine, which did not touch the pain. It turned out to be a pelvic abcess. Absolutely excruciating. They drained it under GA and aside from a duff fallopian tube, I made a full recovery.

KatherineJaneway · 01/05/2021 06:33

I agree with pp. Call 111 again.

Good luck Flowers

MissSmiley · 01/05/2021 13:15

@omgthepain how are you? Did you go back to the hospital?

olympicsrock · 02/05/2021 09:59

How are you doing?

Jenibluebell · 03/05/2021 19:57

Hi hun huge hugs could it be diverticulosis/diverticula you need to have a camera in the bowel to rule this out. Could be a severe flare up xxx

thoroughlyfuckedoff · 03/05/2021 23:33

Hope your okay OP

I came on here to search and found this thread. Sounds so like what I'm going through just now.

I have suffered with IBS for 20 years and recently, have had severe abdominal pain that lasts for hours. Ive had pains for a few months but nothing as bad as this week. I was close to phoning 111 tonight but it's gone again after 4 hours. It'll be back though in the next few days. I'd feel really stupid phoning in tears with the pain and then saying it had completely disappeared a few hours later.

I've been to the docs and there is a stool sample in the system just now. I drink a lot but have stopped for the past 5/6 weeks, well, stopped weekday drinking. The doctor said it was probably that but I'm not so sure. I felt a bit fobbed off.

As I say, I'm fine now but what if it happens again tomorrow? What do I do? It's excruciating at the time but I'm completely fine after an attack.

twointhemorning · 18/05/2021 11:46

@shortandsweet1 do you have any abdominal bloating along with the pain?

Jenibluebell · 28/05/2021 06:25

Since I last replied in here this has happened to me!!!
Omgthepain how are you?? Is it still goin on ?
2 weeks ago I went to A&E with severe stomach pain. Radiating from my left to right side came on suddenly like a worsened version of the dull left sided pain for months that I've had. then suddenly it got like this.
I had pelvic scan at hosp, bowel camera 3 weeks ago all clear, blood tests at hosp no answer for the pain even my inflammation markers were not raised! . When I got to hosp they suspected ruptured cyst but nope nothing there!! It was awful and I'm scared of it happening again. They are now saying severe food intolerance attack.

Sending hugs xxxx
