Evening primrose oil - does it work for breast pain?

I am 32 and was referred to the breast clinic for constant left breast pain (6 weeks) and occasional discharge (same breast). My left breast has also grown quite a bit larger than my right so naturally I was a bit worried. Tried a self exam and found what I thought felt like a little lump.
Anyway I went to my appointment on Monday, the doctor was extremely dismissive and made me feel like I was wasting her time before I'd even taken my top off.
She felt my breast, said feels fine then tried to squeeze the nipple for discharge (nothing happened - not surprising as it has only leaked maybe 3/4 times in last 6 weeks) and that was that. Only for the look I clearly had on my face did she then say she could check with the ultrasound if I really wanted her to. She run the little wand over the bit where I could feel a lump for a second, glanced at the screen and said yes normal breast tissue and that was that.
She told me to start taking evening primrose oil, I asked what was causing the pain and she said hormones.
I left feeling really dismissed, and while I understand they are probably busy and see lots of people with no issues all the time, a little reassurance would have helped.

Anyway - my question is does anyone have experience of evening primrose oil working for breast pain? It is mostly a contact ache across the top and down the side by armpit of my left breast. Sometimes its a lot more noticeable than others, sometimes it really hurts and feels a bit stabby. I just want it to go away.

I've been in the breast clinic twice now with what I thought were lumps only to be told the breast tissue is all fine after ultrasound. I have painful breasts, I think the coil I have made it a bit worse. Been told to take primrose and it works for me. I can clearly feel the difference if I forget to take it for a few days, so it must be doing something.

If you are worried you could maybe get a private ultrasound?

Also just to add, I think some of my breast pain can be related to musculoskeletal issues as I have issues with back pain and neck pain. My muscles in my chest are often very tight.

Thank you for replying! Good to know it's worked for you. Will give it a try. I'm not on any contraception so the hormonal thing threw me ha.

Hi, I have the exact same. Pain has been coming and going for about 2 years.
I was initially referred to breast clinic although GP said that pain, on its own, is rarely serious.
Mammogram was clear, ultrasound found a tiny lump which was biopsied (standard procedure), and it was a fibrodeama, which is harmless and not the source of pain.
I was sent on my way.
Pain can be sharp or aching and doesn’t appear to be linked to cycle.
I’m pretty much used to it now, and think that if it was anything serious, I’d have other symptoms by now.
Haven’t tried evening primrose, keep meaning to.
So hopefully this is some reassurance that it’s very unlikely to be serious.

I started to have breast pain and a lot of swelling and tenderness for up to 2 weeks before my period. Evening I primrose oil definitely worked for me. Weirdly now the pain has gone completely.

Starflower oil is richer - definitely helped me with pain.
