Spotting 6 months after birth

I'm after general advice and reassurance please Smile

I had my daughter 6 months ago and I have not yet had a period. For background info, my periods have never been very regular. I discovered I was pregnant in Feb 2020. At that point I hadn't had a period since Nov 2019! I also have had excessive facial hair growth for the last 6 years although ultrasounds show! no sign of cysts on my ovaries.

I breastfed for the first two days following her birth and then she started formula feeds.

Around the end of March I started to have brown discharge which was quite stringy so I thought it may be my period. It didn't fill a panty liner and lasted for 5 days and was accompanied by lower back ache and cramps.

Now for the last 5 days I have been having stringy discharge when wiping which is a pinky brown colour, the tissue paper is pink when wiping and this morning there's red streaks when wiping. Again with back ache and cramps. Past two smears (last one in Feb 2021) have shown HPV but no abnormal cells. I have also taken two pregnancy tests which are both negative. I've been referred for an ultrasound and have had bloods taken (no results yet).

Going out of my mind with worry that it's something sinister. Anyone else experienced this?

Sorry you're worried. It's horrible being worried isn't it.

I have regular periods but sometimes have a little blood mid cycle and it's always around ovulation. A bit like pinky/red when I wipe followed by a little cramping.

They need to book you in for a colposcopy rather than an ultrasound ask to be referred for one. I had one when I had bleeding in between periods but was too young for a smear.

It's all consuming at the moment! I think the worry is heightened after having my little one. I've always been a worrier anyway but now I can't stop thinking about something happening to me and her not having me around and me missing out on her growing up. As you can tell I'm a glass half empty kinda girl!

Thanks for advice though, i'll give my GP a ring on Monday!

I'm a worried too!
It's bloody horrible.

Yes defo speak to the GP. Do ask to be referred for a colposcopy and don't take no for an answer.
