Prolonged bleeding.. Contraceptive implant

Hi all.
I had a contraceptive implant fitted in December 2019, my cycles have been irregular but so far only averaging a 3/4 day period.. The past 3 weeks I've had prolonged bleeding, it started off normal flow for a cycle, then spotting now it's back to period type flow.. Is this normal? I'm worried it might be something else. I'm going to book a cervical screening soon as I haven't had one since before I gave birth.
Just wondering if this prolonged and irregular bleeding is normally attributed to the contraceptive implant?
Thanks.

Hi @Worriedmummy766 irregular bleeding after Implant insertion is very normal , it can often take several months to settle to no or minimal period - if the bleeding becomes so frustrating that you consider taking it out then please ask your GP for 3 months of the Oral contraceptive pill which can help regulate and settle , if that doesn't work it is a case of accept it or remove it . It's the most effective form of contraception there is just now so fingers crossed all settles for you . Good luck !
