You take most combined pills for 21 days, take a 7 day break then continue. When you bleed doesn't change when you resume the pill.

You stop taking then count the 7 days immediately. So for example last pill on Sunday, Then Monday to Sunday no pill then Monday start the next pack. It doesn't matter when the bleeding starts.

Combined pills are usually designed to be taken for 21 days, or 3 weeks in a row. The 4th week depends on what type of pill you have. Some have 21 pills per strip, with this type you take no pills for 7 days. Others have 21 'active' pills, and 7 'placebo' or 'dummy' pills, pills which don't contain anything. With this type you take the inactive pills for 7 days.
Your withdrawal bleed should start during your pill free week, due to the slight drop in hormones which is just enough to cause a bleed.
You start the next strip after 7 days, regardless of if you are still bleeding or not. You should always start the next strip on the same day. (I chose to start on a Monday just because it seemed easiest, 1st day of the week and all that).

I'm on Microgynon 30, 21 day pack. I used to start my bleed on the Thursday or Friday, and it would usually be completely finished by the Monday or Tuesday.

However now I take my pills back to back, without my week break. I do this for 6 months. So I take 6 strips in a row without a break. Then I have a break for 1 week, when I have my withdrawal bleed, which still starts and finishes the same days. Then I start again for 6 months. So I only have 2 bleeds a year, or a bleed every 6 months, as the months do not follow the calendar January to December.
It's brilliant and doesn't impact on me at all

And I know it’s not recommended and I AM NOT suggesting that anyone else does this or tries this, but it works perfect for me so I’ll stick with it.
