Prolapse ...help... (Apologies for TMI content)

I'm on the last day of my period, just gone to change my Mooncup and discovered fleshy bits hanging down into my vagina which don't belong there. It seems to have happened quite suddenly, all felt normal earlier and I haven't had any pain, or any reason that I can think of for this to happen.

Can anyone give any advice or reassurance? I assume I need to see my GP (hate bothering them at the moment)

I discovered a prolapse postnatally, it felt like bulging, dangling down like you describe, it just felt wrong really! I saw my gp, who referred me to a gynaecologist, who suggested it may be a rectocele and referred me for a defecating peoctogram (barium up the bum, push it out, they x-ray as you do so - it was really interesting!). That done, I saw the "bum doctor" (can't remember the correct term) who told me my results and referred me to women's physio which was GREAT, I had about 6 sessions and was given so many useful tips, exercises and have been able to manage it since. The bum doctor did say to go back to my gp if it got to the stage where it was having a massive impact on my life, if I had problems doing a number 2 (sorry for the euphemism), as surgery is an option.

There is a prolapse thread on here which I can recommend if it's not already been mentioned while I'm typing. And definitely speak to your gp about it Smile

Also, I was so upset about mine when I found it, really upset. I have found that just knowing what is going on down there was a weight off my mind. Good luck, I'm sure it will all be OK. Also, I think the thread title is "Any old prolapse", I found it really supportive, it's good to know you're not alone sometimes too.

Thank you, I'll go and look for the other thread.

I did have gynae physio after DS2 was born but have never felt like it really did the trick. More fool me for ignoring it.

The last time I used a mooncup (last year) I felt a bit odd after I removed it, so had a feel and there was a bulge in there. It was about the size of a golf ball and very smooth. I couldn't feel any sensation on it. To this day I have no idea what it was. I wondered if the mooncup had suctioned something. I had a smear test recently and all looked fine.

I've been using my Mooncup for years without problems but thinking back, I couldn't get it to sit right a couple of days ago. Wonder if that was a sign something was not right. I've taken it out now.

Ugh. I wish I was a bloke 😢

They have it so much easier don't they? I stopped using my mooncup after reading about a link with prolapse (although I don't know if it was a proper peer-reviewed study). I figured that my nethers didn't need any additional prolapse!

Woah, I didn't realise the mooncup link was a thing. Come to think of it my prolapse woes started after I'd been using a mooncup for a while too - gah!

I stopped using mine for that very reason.
It's bloody disconcerting to have your cervix dragged down with your cup.
(I was a seasoned cup user by the way before anyone comes along to helpfully suggest I wasn't breaking the seal Grin )

Hi OP, hope your appointment on Monday goes well. I'm 8 weeks postpartum with DD2 and have been diagnosed with a rectocele. I paid to see a private women's health physio as it's really bothering me! She really knew her stuff and has given me some exercises to do, with a follow up in 3 weeks time. Mine feels like a misplaced tampon. It's so frustrating, and it's causing me bowel issues too which I'm taking lactulose for. Quite honestly if I'd known this was going to happen, I'd have opted for an elective section!
