so I am peri menopausal and been on HRT for 2.5 years - I'm 51. The last month I had 3 bleeds in the month which was unusual but I wasn't overly concerned. During routine chat with GP this came up and she referred me as a matter of urgency to gynaecologist. i was shocked at this response as thought it would be a see what next month is like, they've been very thorough which scares me because I guess if they weren't worried they wouldn't act ! Anyway went today had an internal scan to measure womb thickness and it was 12mm instead of recommended 4mm. she said I needed a biopsy which she tried to do but couldn't as 20 years ago I had loop diathermy for abnormal cervical cells and this was stoping her from carrying out the procedure I now need to go under a general anaesthetic in a day procedure to have a hysteroscopy - I'm scared. She said hopefully its a hormone imbalance but that seems way thicker than it should be? I should get an appointment within 2 weeks and have to now self isolate because of being an in patient which has also upset me as I hoped to see my mum easter weekend who I haven't seen since October. I had abnormal cells 20 years ago and had loop diathermy for one lot and laser treatment for another lot and all smears since then have been fine. has anyone been through the same ? she said if they see polyps they'll remove them whilst i'm there - I'm scared, my sister had cervical cancer 2 years ago but has now been given the all clear
