Lactation after I’ve stopped breastfeeding

Hi all

I am looking for some advice as I can’t find anything that fits my situation. I breastfeed for six months and slowly weaned my LO about a month ago. Yesterday I had a sudden surge of nausea and by the end of the day had what felt like filled ducts. I have used a silicone breast pump this morning as there was discomfort and have produced an ounce of milk. It was slightly more yellow sort of closer to first milk.

Has anyone had this before? I’m worried I’ll end up causing an infection if I ignore so maybe I should pump? I don’t wish to restart though. I didn’t have this with my first so I’m at a loss. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

Not personally as I'm still feeding but I know it's normally to have milk for a long time after stopping feeding. I know someone who didn't feed for long at all who could still squeeze some out months later.

I'd just pump enough to take the discomfort away and leave it at that, don't try to empty and it should go.

Thank you @olderthanyouthink. I’m guessing that’s what’s going on but it’s come as a surprise as I didn’t experience this with my first.

I think you’re right, I’ll just pump to manage any excess as and when. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
