Positive experiences with the coil?

Just had a baby and now I’m deciding what contraception to go on.

What are people’s experiences with the coil? What coil did you have? I can’t get the thought of my partner being about to feel itConfused

Copper, absolutely fine, neither myself nor my husband can feel it which is slightly problematic as that means I can't check it, I've had a few fitted now, I've fallen pregnant on it once (unsuccessfully) but even despite that much preferred it to the other options so did stick with it, I was statistically unlucky. Heavy periods first 3 months, after that I completely forget about it, lovely not having to think about contraception. Nothing else compares for me.

Have had the mirena since Oct 19. Had two/three heavy periods after and nothing since apart from a tiny bit of spotting when I wipe about every so often. Also can’t feel the strings cos there so high up but nurse confirmed there still there at my smear last week. Very happy with it though and would get another when this is finished

Had my mirena coil fitted 5 months ago. It took 4 months for it to settle, had bleeding or spotting nearly every day. So, be prepared for up to 6 months of it settling itself. I hope I’m nearly through it now, and my periods will begin to lessen. Regarding the threads, mine have been left long and they caused me problems in the early days but now I don’t feel them at all. My DH reckons he cant feel a thing. My main issue has been the irregular bleeding.

Mirena for 2 years now, some irregular bleeding at first but only one very light period since (probably due to stepping down breastfeeding feeding). Got it about 4 months post birth. Initial strings were too long so had them cut.

Love it to be honest. Had really heavy periods between pregnancies, almost to the point of flooding so was a relief not to have them
