Spotting 12 weeks postpartum

Hello, was wondering if anyone has any advice or similar experiences to me that they could share!

I gave birth 12 weeks ago (assisted vaginal birth) and was bleeding until about week 6, then came back in week 7 which I thought was a period but wasn't that heavy and didn't last long. Then week 9 had what I think was my first proper period, heavy, lasted about a week etc but I have now been spotting ever since and it's really getting me down. So that's two weeks of spotting now and I just feel like I haven't stopped bleeding since the birth. It's not heavy at all, doesn't smell, no pains or anything so GP ruled out infection and she looked at my cervix and said all looked normal - basically told me to ride it out and hopefully my body will just settle.

I just feel like I can't get on with my life at the moment and was wondering if anyone had any similar experiences?

Sometimes, it may take some time to return to normal. I was bleeding on and off until I was six weeks post-partum. Got a period a few months later, then my periods stopped and came back after a few months. Are you taking any hormonal contraception? That can cause spotting.

If it makes you feel any better, I had a coil fitted last month and I'm still bleeding! Never had anything like this before.

Thanks for replying and no contraception here! I kind of wanted my body to get back into it's natural rhythm before I went back on the pill etc.

God that sounds horrible! Sorry it's been so rough for you!

I'm just hoping it's my hormones and body trying to settle. I see lots of things about retained product etc but GP doesn't seem concerned and hasn't referred me for an ultrasound - it's so rubbish! I feel like I don't know whether I'm coming or going bleeding everyday!
