Can the procedure (hysteroctopy) go ahead when on period?

I have been waiting for a gynaecologist appointment for over a year, finally have an appointment for this Thursday, due to covid restrictions I have to isolate and had a covid test yesterday. Yesterday I got my period and I know I will still be bleeding on Thursday. I have searched online but got a mixture of answers, some saying the procedure can go ahead and others saying not. Has anyone had the same procedure whilst bleeding?

The reason I’m having tests is because of heavy prolonged bleeding and pain so at the moment I’m bleeding more days than I’m not.

Do you mean a hysteroscopy? I would ring them and check but I'm sure I had mine done right at the end of my period. I was like you and bleeding more days than I wasn't!

That’s the one 🙂

I’m hoping I won’t be bleeding as much by Thursday, I have tried calling but no ones answering the telephone, I spoke to my gp and he said he didn’t want to give me anything to stop my bleeding as it may effect the tests.

Yes you can have it done. Are you being sedated?

Thanks, no I’m not having sedation, I’m hoping it won’t be too uncomfortable, I have already had a internal ultrasound without discomfort and have had so many examinations so hoping I will be fine.

It won't be a problem.Take a couple of ibuprofen before and you'll be fine.
