Bleeding before period - why?

Hi. Anyone got any advice on what I should be asking my GP for?
DH and I have been trying for baby number 2 for about 6 months and since I’ve increased my tracking I’ve noticed that I get spotting every month from 4/5 days before my period starts.
I feel like something isn’t right and this could be causing me to not fall pregnant..... however if I was told I couldn’t have another baby that would be ok but I just want to know why I get bleeding every month before my period. Dr google brings up so many variables so what do I ask my GP to actually do to get to the bottom of this?
Hope that makes some kind of sense.
Thanks

Could be a polyp? I had this when Tcc.

Probably worth giving your GP a call, if nothing else you will probably find out how common it is. Because it is cyclic, I honestly wouldn't worry too much. But give them a call anyway!

@Smartiesandhugs It is most likely hormonal and I'd say take it seriously if you are TTC. Spotting like this can happen when there is low progesterone and that's (P) what's needed to help implantation.

How old are you? Usual advice is if you are under 30 and try for a year, and no luck, see your dr for tests, but if you are closer to 35, they can start to look at things after 6 months

@JinglingHellsBells thank you. I did speak to the GP today in the end and mentioned we haven’t used contraception for 18 months although only trying for 6 and she said she would do a fertility referral. I am going to give it another couple of months I think and then go back if I’m still having all the same problems.
I’m 31 so didn’t think my fertility would have changed too much from having my 1st 2 1/2 years ago.

I have just had a cervical polyp removed, that caused spotting every month from ovulation for a couple of days. I think any bleeding between periods needs to be seen. My GP dx polyp at a smear and referred me to gyne.

Hope I didn’t worry you I was ttc for 8 years so had every test going!
Could also be low progesterone. Definitely work asking gp about. But you do notice more things when ttc.

Did you have a c section first time?

whatsoccuringnow · 01/03/2021 21:53

I spot for a few days before my period starts too, and get terrible night sweats. Have been to GP about it and was told it's just hormones. I'm not ttc, I did have c-sections with both of mine. Just following for any useful answers!

If you've had a c section there's a chance that in healing your uterus has formed an internal pouch. This internal pouch can hold onto old period blood and cause spotting throughout the cycle. It can also cause a hostile environment for TTC and either cause full infertility or a high risk of embryo implanting in/on the pouch which wouldn't be a bible pregnancy
