I’m seriously considering it. We are 100% done having kids.

Downsides I’m aware of:

  • temporary problem of procedure and recovery time
  • if it fails, you’re at higher risk of ectopic pregnancy

Anything else I need to be aware of?

I was sterilised a few years back and never had any problems nor have I had difficult periods from it. Ive not heard of that being an issue

Oh this is interesting! I've just been referred for sterilisation as the copper coil was causing me very heavy periods and I can't have hormonal contraception. The GP didn't mention anything about heavy periods after sterilisation. Something to look into.....

I was sterilised 2 years ago. Periods fine since.

Be aware the nhs might refuse to do it. Even before covid this was a thing, probably more so now with theatre backlogs. They’ll push for your dp to have the snip. Cheaper.
