Hi everyone

I am feeling awful. We are TTC so I have come off my antidepressant that I was taking for PMT only 20mg.

So I have had a awful period not helped by the wait of seeing if we had conceived.

Symptoms:

Serious headaches pre period
Hate everyone
Irritability
Loss of any patience
Over emotional - crying
Almost feeling suicidal (I know that sounds extreme)
Feel like a deflated balloon. Yesterday day 4 of period I could not function ended up with a midday bath and then sat on the sofa feeling like I was in a trance.
Struggle to concentrate on work
Struggle to sleep so tired

I just can't continue like this is exhausting

I am talking to GP on Tuesday and I am
also overweight so going to ask for dietician referral to help with symptoms and my weight

Anyone have any advice or similar issues

Yes every month and so do most of the women in my family. It is PMDD I think, but I don't want to take Medication, I have had allergies to antidepressants anyway. I just wait it out now. I recognise that they are not my true feelings, and that they will pass. I order takeaway, stuff my face, find some comedy to watch and try to avoid social interactions as much as possible.

Day 4 of period sounds a little late, mine was always the 10 days before

I get mine worst the night before, and half way through my period

I am feeling very similar and quite desperate. Half the month I feel great, happy out, no problems and then the other half I am struggling so badly in many of the ways you described and also have felt suicidal. It’s a horrible rollercoaster. I tried to take an SSRI anti depressant last month and had a rare side effect so GP has taken me off them and I’m going to start the pill this month.

I don’t have much advice sorry. I find avoiding caffeine helps, but not by much. Weirdly glad to see someone else describing what I’m feeling because it’s driving me mad. Flowers

I had Prostrap the turn off my ovaries for a bit. Was amazing

What really helps me is exercising so hard I want to throw up, giving 100% really helps my mood and intrusive thoughts which can cripple me around my period.

Also the marina coil was life changing

Thanks everyone I will talk to gp tomorrow

Def need to exercise and eat better

I have to be careful what I take because of family history of blood clots so can't take the pill etc

I get bad anxiety the week before my period. I'm on Antidepressants which have helped me immensely, but they seem to have no effect that one week. Hopefully your GP is understanding. I've heard they can brush it off as normal.
