No, it's unusual but certainly not unheard of.

My mum told me when I was pregnant at 32 that it was good I hadn't waited any longer, since most of my dad's family had their menopause around then.

Fwiw I started peri menopause at 40, practically on my birthday.

I started perimenopause at 36. My mum had her last period at 43 so I wasn't surprised. I am 42 now and by the look of things I might have my last period in next few months too. My sister is same as me.

My grandma was always at pains to tell me I needed to have finished having babies by the time I was 35 because menopause runs early in our family. So no, not unheard of.

But equally, it is young and any weirdness should probably be checked out - don’t just write it off as ‘maybe peri’.

If you don't mind me asking, how do you know you started. I'm 37 and thinking am I starting but then I think no I'm too young, but it is possible @Literallyfedup

I'm pretty sure I've begun mine in the last year or so. I won't be 40 for a couple of years yet.

I think it’s unusual so don’t assume - make a Doctors appointment . It took me a few years to realise but I’ve changed over the last ten years and still not got to the end yet - currently 47

For me, it started with heavy flooding periods. My periods were so heavy that I avoided going out in the second day and I had to change every two hours. Then I missed a period and started getting night sweats. For the following few periods- I spotted for at least 2 days before period. Approached my GP and she suggested perimenopause but still did other tests. Another few months passed and I either had a missed cycle or a 3 month long period. Finally got a mirena. Got normal periods for 12 months with spotting. Now have 42 day cycle. I don't have night sweats anymore just some hot flushes sometimes.
Even if you suspect perimenopause do contact your GP. Better to get some test done.
