GP still hasn't reported on my ultrasound? (non-pregnancy related)

I'm 31 yrs and had an abdominal ultrasound just over a week ago as I have been experiencing frequent urge to urinate. No internal U/S was done. I also have very very painful periods. The sonographer called the nurse over to the screen at one point, then casually asked if I had irregular and painful periods after the exam, then told me he would send results to GP.

Today receptionist has told me the GP has not yet looked at the results/reported on them and told me to try and ring back next day basically. Is this normal and in your experience have urgent results been marked as so? As you can imagine I have worked myself up a bit!

If you could share any experiences that would be great.

In my area anything really urgent the hospital tends to alert the GP to with a phone call...eg abnormal x-rays which need urgent action. Otherwise it just goes into the mailing system. If your scan was just over a week ago it might be the GP hasn't had time to look at it. (Or be like me isolating at home after a COVID test 😩)
