I've has had this for a while. I've done 6 months course of internal cansten cream and Fluconazole 150mg. That didn't work. The things I've changed are stopped wearing knickers in bed as I didn't realised that can cause thrush, I know stress can cause it, I'm a stresshead!..My husband and I, washed our hands after sex. If I have a shower, I don't use anything between my legs eg shower gel etc.

I haven't tried them yogurt drinks. Will that work if the course didn't work??

What can i do and try?

thanks

Are you sure it IS actually thrush? have you had swabs taken?
I was treated for months for oral thrush, it turned out to be an auto immune disorder called lichen planus, which can also affect genitals.
there are also other things it could be with similar symptoms...
Go back to GP , don't self treat anymore, you need this sorting out bless you.
good luck

yes ive been tested and came back thrush for my doc to start me on the course. ill go back to docs as its annoying me.

it does make me wonder whats the heck ive got!!... as ive had it on and off for years. If i take antibiotics, that kicks it off... but it been a long while ive had antibiotics.

Thanks for your advice.

Are you on the pill? This can cause thrush.

ChablisandCrisps · 26/01/2021 15:19

Could you perhaps have diabetes? Unmanaged type 2 can cause recurrent thrush.

DH and I had this for a good 6 months. We treated OTC a few times, then went to doc and got different cream, then a longer course of the different cream. Eventually we each got a weeks course of tablets that eventually shifted it. I also had my mirena coil removed after I heard that they can act as a reservoirs of infection. It was definitely a yeast infection each time.

Is your DH also being treated at the same time? Oh, and you should really wash your hands before sex, not sure if that was a typo. Good luck, I made me miserable!

Have you treated your husband?

AWryGiraffe · 26/01/2021 15:43

Do you take oral contraceptives?

AWryGiraffe · 26/01/2021 15:43

I mean hormonal not oral, including implant etc

i stopped using the injection 2 years ago, been using condoms. i thought ill have a break from the injection incase that was causing the problem but since ive finished the course and nothing made a difference.

I got terrible thrush with the depo. It has settled down now, I’ve been off the depo for about 3 years but it took a good 18 months.

I tried alsorts but I found taking this really effective. I’m not convinced it was always thrush. It definitely has been but it not sure it always was.

It's most likely a gut imbalance - it can take a while to recover from taking antibiotics.. Do you eat a lot of sugar by any chance? If I were you, I would try to cut out sugar and eat a wholefood, high fibre diet for a few weeks. Probiotics would really help too. What about your laundry detergent - could that be highly perfumed?

I got recurrent thrush when my thyroid was overactive. Might be worth getting that checked?
