First time taking Yasmin pill - experiences?

I started on Yasmin on the first day of my period this week. Period usually lasts 3-4 days and I'm now on day 5 still bleeding and with cramps. Feeling emotional and just concerned really, haven't taken the pill in about 8 years and aside from a brief stint with the coil, I've not used any contraception except condoms.
I can find plenty of mixed reviews for Yasmin but can't really find anything about people's experiences of when they first started on this pill, so I wondered if anyone had any insight they could share please?

Absolutely loved Yasmin! I was on it for years mainly due to skin issues and bad PMS.
When i first started it I was mid way through a cycle and I didnt notice any difference immediately to be honest.
Light ish periods (4-5days). Some cramps at time of the month and the odd migraine but much much better than previous pills I had been on.

However...
After 6 years on it I had been suffering from migraines. Initially thought my eyes were to blame. Had an eye test and ended up with glasses but the migraines continued.
I had a an emergency GP appointment one day as my migraine was so severe i wanted to rip the hair from my head.
My blood pressure was sky high and I was told I was at risk of a stroke if I didnt lower it. I wasnt under any pressure with work or anything so they stopped Yasmin and switched me to the progesterone only pill.
My BP improved but unfortunately the migraines didnt.
I stopped the pill almost 3 years ago.
I still get migraines but not as frequent and not as bad.
My skin is better but even in my 30's i get spots like a teenager!
If I had to go back onto the pill I would pick Yasmin to be honest as it worked for me, but I know it doesnt suit everyone!

I loved this pill! Worked wonders for my skin however like pp I suffered from terrible migraines and high bp and had to come off it...now wary to take any contraceptive pills

Yep, the migraines were on another level with yasmin.
